Reaching our finish line with the B&O Yorkville Run

Several runners commencing the race at a B&O Yorkville Run

Every day at YWCA Toronto we run a long-distance race toward an ambitious but attainable finish line: equality, independence and freedom from violence for women and girls. To win this race, we need the help of other runners. That’s where the Bang & Olufsen Yorkville Run – and you – come in.

The B&O Yorkville Run unites local runners and businesses in a boutique 5K race to benefit local charities on September 7th, 2014. Since its inception in 2010, the B&O Yorkville Run has raised over $200,000 to support YWCA Toronto women’s shelters. This year, runners can help YWCA Toronto support some of the 7,300 women and children who sleep in women’s shelters on a given night in Canada.

For their efforts, the B&O Yorkville Run gives its 1,000 participants the star treatment. The high-end race kit (valued at over $300) contains coveted products like a pair of B&O PLAY Form 2 headphones valued at $130, a New Balance technical t-shirt, and a premium tea package from David’s Tea. After the race, runners are treated to après-run hors d’oeuvres served by white-gloved waiters, courtesy of Yorkville restaurants.

Runners raising funds for YWCA Toronto commit to a minimum goal of $250, and they are handsomely rewarded for their efforts. Runners who raise $500 or more will have their choice of luxurious prizes including a Swarovski bracelet, a Tiffany & Co. flat pouch, a Hermès silk twill scarf, and gift certificates to Morton’s Steakhouse and the Four Seasons Toronto Spa.

The brand new, customized fundraising system makes the process of soliciting donations from friends and family hassle-free, and runners can easily access their personal fundraising pages online. YWCA Toronto supporters are already setting the bar high: two of the B&O Yorkville Run’s top four fundraisers have allocated their funds to YWCA Toronto! Join them and help us reach our finish line.
